Prem’s began in 2009 as a single room off Gulshan Avenue, where a handful of weavers’ sarees were sold to friends and their mothers. Word travelled the way it does in Bengal: from one wedding to the next.
Today our ateliers in Dhaka, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, New York, London, Dubai and Toronto dress women across six countries. The work itself has not changed. Every piece is still drawn, dyed, woven or embroidered by hand.

We work with 140 artisan families: jamdani weavers in Rupganj, Banarasi weavers in Varanasi, zardozi karigars in Old Dhaka and chikankari embroiderers in Lucknow. We pay above market rates and never rush a loom.
If a machine could do it, it isn’t a Prem’s piece. Every motif carries the hand of the artisan who made it.
